{Blog Tour} Soul Journey by Miranda Shanklin

Book Title: Soul Journey
Series: Soul Series book 1
Author: Miranda Shanklin
Release Date: August 31, 2014
Presented by: As You Wish Tours

It has been many lifetimes since the cycle began.

The cycle that still haunts Annisa Lawson.

A spell cast in desperation to help, which only caused heartache.

Now, Annisa has found her way out of the varying repeats of her past; only to bring more danger to herself, and those around her. Now she must learn to survive with the help of her friends: Chase, Penelope, and Landon have all gone through each life cycle with Annisa. Sometimes helping, sometimes hindering. Now that Annisa has broken the cycle of their collective punishment, she finds that she needs her friends more than ever to keep their enemies, known, and unknown, at bay. As the group of friends learn of their souls' journeys through their many life cycles, they must also learn to control the magick they have discovered within themselves and each other, in order to defeat the most feared assassin in their world.

Excerpt

"The only way for all of you to free yourselves from this punishment is by acting maturely and handling the whole situation rationally. The four of you have a very strong bond and were all meant to exist harmoniously with each other. All of your strength comes from the bond and close relationships that you were all destined to have. This punishment will be passed around so that all witches know what has happened, but with the warning that they are not to interfere in any way. This will reinforce the knowledge that magick must be used responsibly.”

When he finished his announcement he was gone.

I looked at Penelope, saw the regret and heard her say, “I’m sorry; I didn’t know it would come back on us all. I was just trying to help.”

Then a series of images started to be presented. I could tell that I was seeing snippets from each of my prior lives. I was shown how in life after life I continually made the same mistakes. Each lifetime was the same as the first. I would not make a decision before it was too late or if I did the boys didn't handle it well. I watched as I continually slept with one or both of them and then saw the consequences of my actions. I was so ashamed of my actions and how they had affected those that meant the most to me. I woke up on the loveseat in my living room at the same time that Landon woke up on the arm chair and Chase woke up on the couch. All three of us just looked at each other for a moment. I could feel the power racing through my veins and I finally felt whole.

Penelope walked in with cups of herbal tea for us with a smile on her face.

“Oh good, you're all finally awake. That took longer than I thought it would. First, I want to apologize. It was my spell that finally pushed the matter too far and brought the punishment on us all. If what I was told was correct you were all given a portion of your memories just now. You won't get all of your memories at once, that would be way too much to try and process all at once. I’m guessing that the Counsel let you see the punishment being handed down and then snippets of each lifetime to show you the mistakes that we made over and over again."

“Landon, I'm sure you're wondering how you got here. Your parents knew this would happen, so they watched and waited for you to faint and then brought you here so that we could all talk when you all woke up. The adults have all decided to give us some privacy. They're all over at my house and we can call them and they'll come back if we need them or have any questions for them. Since I have all my memories, I don’t think we'll need them. So, go ahead and ask your questions.”

We all looked at her with looks of pure astonishment and shame on our faces. I was the first one to recover. “You have nothing to be sorry for. You were just trying to help. I'm the one that caused most of the problems. I know the boy attacking each other was just them reacting to my inability to listen to my heart.”

{Blog Tour} Curves In the Road by Amy K. McClung

Curves in the Road

By: Amy K McClung
Published: August 5, 2014
Pages: 230
Genre:  New Adult

**This book is part of a New Adult Series. Each book will have an ending though, no Cliffhangers! They will all be New Adult and have similar themes with crossover characters***

When you build a road from one place to another, it won't always be a straight line. Sometimes you have to add curves to move around the obstacles. Life is like that as well. Sometimes we have a straight path of what we want in life and we do everything we can to follow that path until suddenly a mountain appears and we have to veer off course to get around it. Even though we face those curves, it doesn't mean we won't end up on the same path we started. Then again, sometimes we discover roads that we never knew existed and that will get us to where we want to be.

Derrick Collins lives in Nashville TN with his six year old daughter, Katelyn. Derrick found love once before in a girl named Mary Jane, until she moved away to Florida to fulfill her dreams of becoming an engineer. Derrick's life hasn't been the same since Mary Jane left two years ago. His days are spent working long hours in order to give his daughter a good life. His social life is non-existent these days and he's decided it's time for a change. Derrick sets out to find his happily ever after once and for all.

Mary Jane Evans' life took a different path than she ever dreamed. She moved to Florida for an intern program at Disney. She left her life in Nashville that included childhood friends, family, and the first man she ever loved, Derrick Collins. Now it's time to decide if she will move back to that life or stay in the new one she has created for herself. Will Derrick still be waiting for her? What if she's been gone too long and he no longer cares?

Can these two find their paths back to each other or were there too many Curves in the Road?

Excerpt from Mary Jane's POV

The day I received a letter offering me an internship into the Imagineering program with Disney was supposed to be the best day of my life; I had worked hard for this opportunity. Instead, it was one of the best and worst days of my life. I was excited at the prospect given to me. The problem was that it meant two years in Florida away from my first actual boyfriend.

It's true that having a boyfriend isn’t the most important thing in life, but it sure is nice. I loved my time with Derrick; I didn’t need him to make me happy, I wanted it. Derrick made me feel happier than I could ever recall feeling. He could make me laugh when I felt discouraged. He's the only man that told me I was beautiful and made me believe it. He was perfect in every way like Mary Poppins in a man. Wow, that's not that sexy I guess, but if Derrick's one thing for sure, it's sexy.

When I told Derrick about the internship, he fought for us to stay together, and that meant the world to me. We tried to figure out a long distance arrangement; it was difficult considering he has a daughter that comes first. Nothing else could make me give up Derrick, except for the best interest of his daughter Katelyn, who I loved as though she were my own.

So, Angel and I loaded up our cars and moved our life to Orlando, Florida leaving behind our friends who'd become family and quite possibly the love of my life.

{Cover Reveal} Generation X: The Rising by Desiree Deorto

 Blurb:

The Elder Race was a story told around campfires. Aliens, monsters, mad men. Those who believed were called insane, but they were right. They came from space, the seas, and below the earth. Turns out they were waiting, patiently waiting all this time. For what, no one knew, until now. They’re coming for what they think is rightfully theirs, the half-breeds that are part human, part Elder.

Once The Rising began, those who were different were gathered. Separated from the life they knew, those they loved, and moved into camps where they were tested and given the choice. But for Elizabeth, there was no choice at all. They meant to make super soldiers out of them. What they discovered instead was something that no one ever expected.

Sometimes monsters aren’t the things you can’t see, but rather, they’re the weapons of your own creation. When you’re part Elder, and part human, it’s hard to see which side of you is the true hero, and which side is the monster.  Everything Elizabeth thought she knew about herself and the world around her is changing, but will she be able to get through The Rising alive? Or will she become what the Government wants her to be: The ultimate weapon.
