REVIEW: Don't Bite the Bridesmaid by Tiffany Allee

Don't Bite the Bridesmaid
Published by:  Entangled Covet
Released:  May 27, 2013

Let me start off by saying that I don't normally read these types of books.  Wow, what have I been missing?  This book was fantastic!  It was fun and heartwarming.  I was afraid the main character, Alice, was going to be this wimpy girl.  Although she had reason to be, she wasn't at all.  And oh, what to say about Noah?  He had my heart beating a little faster through most of the book.  He was smokin'!  The other characters in the book were funny and well written.  You don't see that all the time.  Never having been on a cruise before, I was trying to get a grasp on the setting.  I thought it was funny how Noah kept talking(or thinking) about the gaudy carpeting.  This is the first book I've read by Tiffany Allee and I'm definitely looking forward to more!  Can't wait for this sequel!

Thanks to Entangled Covet for giving me a chance to read and review this wonderful book.

Book Blast: Above Rubies by Jaclyn M. Hawkes-Win $50 Amazon GC or Paypal

above rubies tour

Above Rubies

His chivalry was strangling her. He thought he was helping her—and in truth, he was. She was in desperate straits. But as honorable as he was, he was also breaking her heart. Her attraction was drowning him. When World Champion rodeo cowboy Rossen Rockland and his friends rescue a young runaway who has been abused by her foster father and take her home to his parents’ ranch, he expects her to turn out to be a pain in the neck. And sometimes she is. It doesn’t take him long to figure out that she has way more than her allotment of troubles—and far more than her share of gifts. Lovely, talented, and ravingly brilliant, Kit Star is too young, unbelievably humble, and oh, so loveable. Knowing that she needs his protection and time to grow into her potential, Rossen also figures out that what she really is, is a pain in the heart. Watch for more of the Rockland Ranch Series!

Praise for Above Rubies:

I absolutely could not put this book down. It had me laughing, crying, angry and pretty much every other emotion. I can not wait for the next one in the series to come out. Keep them coming!!! ~Addicted to Books This is the second book in the Rockland Ranch Romance Series.  It can be read as a stand alone or copies of Peace River can be supplied if you would also like to review it.

Peace River (Book 1)

The police didn't understand the danger, but she did. Her father had always been abusive, but now, with a ten million dollar Thoroughbred farm on the line, and a powerful bookie leaning on him, her father had become out of control. But how do you get away and take a world famous stallion with you? Carrie was getting desperate when a handsome and honorable but thoroughly cynical rodeo cowboy from Wyoming happened to show up with a horse trailer. He didn't ride a white horse, but he was definitely a knight in shining armor. He'll protect her from the mob, but can she survive falling in love with a bull rider?

Praise for Peace River

"Give me a clean romance, humor and a good looking cowboy and I'm a happy girl. LDS fiction isn't always my favorite but I really enjoyed the characters and adventure in this book." ~Carol - Goodreads "There was plenty of action, adventure and danger to keep me guessing just how everything was going to turn out. I didn't want to put it down until I finished! Jaclyn Hawkes is one of my favorite LDS romance authors. You really can't go wrong with any of her books that you pick up!" ~Cathy -Goodreads

Blog Tour: PRAEFATIO by Georgia McBride with Giveaway

Praefatio (Praefatio, #1)
by Georgia McBride
Publication Date: May 21st, 2013

ISBN-13: 978-0-9882513-7-3
ISBN eBook: 978-0-9882513-8-0

Seventeen-year-old Grace Ann Miller is no ordinary runaway. After missing for weeks, Grace is found on the estate of international rock star Gavin Vault, half-dressed and yelling for help. Over the course of twenty-four hours Grace holds an entire police force captive with incredulous tales of angels, demons, and war; intent on saving Gavin from lockup, and her family from worry over her safety. But instead, authorities believe that Grace is ill, and suffering from Stockholm Syndrome, the victim of assault and a severely fractured mind. Undeterred, Grace reveals the secret existence of dark angels on earth, an ancient prophecy and a wretched curse steeped in Biblical myth. Grace’s claims set into motion an ages-old war, resulting in blood, death and the loss of everything that matters. But are these the delusions of an immensely sick girl, or could Grace’s story actually be true? Praefatio is Grace’s account of weeks on the run, falling in love and losing everything but her faith. Who do you believe?

My Thoughts:
This book started out a little slow for me.  I couldn't get the characters straight and I wasn't sure what was going on.  Then everything fell into place and I couldn't stop reading!  I was so glad to see the main character, Grace, not some wimpy, "oh woe is me" heroine.  This girl is kicking ass and taking names!  I couldn't stand Gavin but I warmed up to him eventually.   Grace's "brother", Remi, made me fall in love with him.  My heart broke for him a couple of times.  As you can see, I loved everything about this book!  The world building was incredible and I could totally see these places in my mind.  That was good because this was the first book I've read with angels in it and it was very descriptive.  I liked the biblical terms and it was helpful to understand.  The book and characters didn't leave me once the book was finished.  They stayed with me and made me want the sequel that much more!  At least I heard about a sequel.  I hope it's true!

Book Blast: Yours Affectionately, Jane Austen: Win $50 Amazon GC or Paypal

Yours Affectionately, Jane Austen
Was Mr. Darcy real? Is time travel really possible? For pragmatic Manhattan artist Eliza Knight the answer to both questions is absolutely, Yes! And Fitzwilliam Darcy of Pemberley Farms, Virginia is the reason why!
His tale of love and romance in Regency England leaves Eliza in no doubt that Fitz Darcy is the embodiment of Jane Austen’s legendary hero. And she’s falling in love with him. But can the man who loved the inimitable Jane Austen ever love average, ordinary Eliza Knight?
Eliza’s doubts grow, perhaps out of proportion, when things start to happen in the quiet hamlet of Chawton, England; events that could change everything. Will the beloved author become the wedge that divides Fitz and Eliza or the tie that binds them?
Praise for Yours Affectionately, Jane Austen
O’Rourke creates a world that defies cynicism and demands suspension of disbelief – even in this age of doubt and hyper-realism. Sheer escapism at its best. Clever, charming and affectionate. ~Jocelyn Bury …the reader must tenaciously read on rather than put the book down to satisfy their hunger for the story to resolve, which it does in characteristically Jane Austen fashion. ~Erin Murdock
In Yours Affectionately, Jane Austen, author Sally Smith O’Rourke creates a compelling story that investigates what and who might have inspired Jane Austen. While the story line is certainly far-fetched, it is a truly unique idea, one that captivated this reader until the very last page. ~Meg Massey
Author Sally Smith O'Rourke Sally Smith O’Rourke is a surgical scrub nurse at the City of Hope national cancer research hospital in Duarte, California and resides in the near-by Victorian village of Monrovia. With her late husband, author Michael O’Rourke (aka F.M. O’Rourke) Smith O’Rourke owned and operated a medical advertising company where she used her diverse talents to produce and co-write teaching films and videos. Working not only with major medical and surgical manufacturing companies but also network television. These endeavors ultimately led to a collaboration on two feature films (direct to video) and three published novels. The wife and husband writing team of Sally Smith and Michael O’Rourke, being long-time fans of Jane Austen, wrote The Man Who Loved Jane Austen released by Kensington Books in 2006. Kensington followed that very successful effort with The Maidenstone Lighthouse in 2007 and Christmas at Sea Pines Cottage in 2009, both also collaborative projects by Smith and O’Rourke. Published after her partner and spouse’s untimely death in 2001, the publisher chose not to use the names Michael O’Rourke and Sally Smith (as the manuscripts were presented), releasing all three books under Sally Smith O’Rourke. Yours Affectionately, Jane Austen is Sally Smith O’Rourke’s first solo novel.

Blog Tour: Sovereign by E.R. Arroyo

Sovereign Book Tour Banner
“…because of this book I kinda want to create some sort of special shelf for books that go above and beyond genre tropes or something, I’ll think on that more later.”

“…this is a well written book with plenty of twists and unexpected turns that will keep you up at night reading under the light of the moon.”

ABOUT Sovereign Sovereign On Book banner 3
Chemical warfare has obliterated most of the world, including America, and the survivors have turned into feral beasts, save one colony, Antius, the last remnant of civilization. Seventeen-year-old Cori (aka Citizen 1206) only longs for wide open spaces and freedom. But Antius has no use for such things, just mindless drones to serve in a place with walls, fences, and laws. A lot of laws, which Cori constantly breaks. So she’s spent years plotting her escape, which is the only thing that will save her from the colony’s deranged leader, Nathan. She isn’t looking to be a hero, and she certainly isn’t looking to fall in love, but she just might do both.

My Thoughts:  Thanks to Gliterary Girl Media for giving me a chance to participate in this tour.
I can't say enough good things about Sovereign! E.R. Arroyo did an amazing job with this book. I normally only read at night before bed. Since I had started this book, I was looking for reasons to go inside and read or couldn't wait for bedtime. The book and characters in particular, stayed on my mind all day. This being post apocalyptic, I normally have trouble with world building. Sovereign changed all that. I actually felt like I was there. And the characters were amazing! There were times that I actually found myself holding my breath waiting to see what happened next. And yes, I did tear up a couple of times. A few surprises too! I wasn't left guessing about anything. It was all pretty much explained. I do caution you though. There is violence and some graphic scenes. Not too horrible though. Overall this book was phenomenal and I can't wait for the sequel!!

ABOUT E.R. Arroyo

daynight Grand Finale!! Win Lots of Prizes!

On Tour with Prism Book Tours...

Megan ThomasonWelcome to the "Second Chances" daynight blog tour! Over the last few day/nights I was really excited to share with you:

- Over $300 of daynight-related prizes as a giant THANK YOU to the thousands of daynight early adopters and those who have yet to enter the twisted world of The Second Chance Institute and Thera. Want to prepare for Exile? Or an overday date with Ethan? Have breakfast for dinner? Glam it up in Garden City? There are *12* prize packages to be won! We'll introduce a new package every day of the tour so you'll have a second, third & so forth chance to win.

- The launch of clean slate complex (a daynight story)... For those who have read daynight you can learn more about what the SCI is up to on Earth (surely nothing good). For those who haven't read daynight this is a great way to get your feet wet...test the waters so to speak. I warn you though...the SCI's like Jaws Jr and the giant school of barracuda I encountered on my recent vacation--pretty from a distance, but up close they've got a lot of bite ;).

- Posters, teasers and guest posts about the themes of daynight and clean slate complex... Plus, I'm fully prepared to sneak in some nuggets about what to expect in the daynight sequel, arbitrate.

Thanks again for joining us on the tour and for your support of daynight. I'm grateful for all of you and humbled by your support.

- Megan Thomason
author of daynight

April   22 - Launch!
                - My Seryniti - Review
I honestly didn’t know who to trust.
                - Little Library Muse - Part I of III
Thankfully I got Brad Darcton, a member of the ruling Ten of the SCI to help me out... no one said that I couldn’t bring a guest to my guest post so I’m going for it. I warn you to take what he says with a grain of salt. The guy’s a walking SCI propaganda poster.
23 - Tressa's Wishful Endings - Part II of III
The dystopia category is pretty broad these days. By definition a dystopian world must have:Extremely bad living conditions due to deprivation, oppression, or terrorBy that definition my kids probably think our home qualifies.
                - Buckeye Girl Reads - Excerpt:
                - Marked by Books - Review
I don't necessarily think that the SCI is evil, even though I may believe that some of the things they do are. They have a reason for doing what they do, and I'm so thankful to Megan for daring to explain those "whys."
                - Red Headed Bookworm - Part III of III
Brad: We want only the best for humanity. All you have to do is turn on the news on Earth to know that humanity’s been in a downward spiral. Someone’s got to step up and nip these issues in the bud. And I don’t know any organization better prepared to do just than than The Second Chance Institute.

24 - Coffee Books and Me - Guest Post
The idea for Thera came to me as I was hiking the canyons of San Diego...

All Fantasy Words - Review
daynight is a gripping, fast-paced novel that combines the intricacies of science and technology with a sense of magic and surrealism.

26 - My Passion for Books - Review
I was very impressed with this book. I read it in a couple of days, even though I had a lot of work to do for school and other things. I just couldn’t put it down.

27 - Bookworm Lisa - Guest Post - The Characters
I needed all three characters to fully tell the story... Each perspective adds important pieces to the puzzle and as the characters collide there’s a few fireworks.
                - Getting Your Read On - Review x2
We get a glimpse of the characters from daynight in this novella and it definitely perked my interest in the next book to see how everything fits back together and intertwines.
                - All Fantasy Worlds - CSC Review
clean slate complex was a fast read and it went very well after reading daynight. You know that feeling when you finish reading a good novel and you know you’re going to miss the characters and the world the author created so much until the next book comes out? Well, this novella is perfect for those who need their daynight fix.

28 - Fantastical World of Wonders - Review
All in all, this book was a nice read that'll leave you wondering what's going to happen next.
                - Pause Time - Part I of III:
There’s nothing like starting the morning with a little controversy, so let’s get a couple important things out of the way:
- So what is Cleaving?
                - A Backwards Story - Part II of III:
Many readers have mistaken all the Cleaving discussion for pushing sex. On the contrary, it is all about who you end up with for life.
daynight excerpt                - Beck Valley Books - Part III of III
Extremes are extreme by nature and intended to shed very bright light on societal parallels and make the reader think, feel uncomfortable even.
           29 - I Am a Reader, Not a Writer - Teaser

                - Books Mystify - Review
What I expected did not happen, especially what I predicted with the Blake and Kira's relationship... I like it because it was a twist for me...
                - Mel's Shelves - Review
Wow!! I'm really not sure where to start with this one. This book is full of twists and turns and turns and more turns. There's LOTS of secrets, deceit, betrayal, friendship, love, lust, power hungry adults, creepy rules, etc. You name it, this has it (aside from swearing and detailed sex--a plus).
Theme 5 photo Escapism-Poster_zps341ec470.jpg

30 - Letters to the Cosmos - Review
The story starts on page one, the writing is fantastic, the characters are well-drawn, and the narrative is so much... more than a YA dystopian novel.
                - Arriane Cruz Part I of II
Escapism: an inclination to retreat from unpleasant realities through diversion or fantasy.
                - Candace's Book Blog Part II of II
Knowing that escaping won’t make the bad stuff go away, why do we do it? I think that the diversions and fantasies can give our brains enough of a “timeout” to be able to return back to our circumstances with renewed vigor and determination.
May      1 - Life of a YA Girl - Review
You never know who to trust. You honestly don't even know until the very end. Some of the characters, who will remain nameless, you still don't know their true intentions! I can't wait to read Thomason's next book, once it comes out. I'm just dying to know what happens to these characters, if who we think we can trust is really trustworthy... if the SCI has some other twisted objective.
Theme 5 photo Home-Visit-Excerpt_zps5c3e2cbf.jpgFuonlyknew - Excerpt - What a tour!

             2 - A Tiffyfit's Reading Corner - Review
If you can't tell just yet, this was a five star read. Many of my notes in my kindle are highlights that say "HOLY CRAP" or "OMG!" or "ARE YOU FLIPPING KIDDING ME?!" My poor kindle probably has bruises from me punching the screen with my finger to get to the next page as quickly as I could.
                - Lovin' Los Libros - Review - daynight & CSC:
There is a bit of a love triangle here, as both Adam and Joshua have expressed interest in Alexa. We get a pretty big plot twist and Alexa learns SCI is not at all what it claims to be, and Joshua’s allegiance is wishy washy at best.Alexa, Adam, and  Joshua will all appear in Arbitrate, the second book in the Daynight series.
I can’t wait!
Paulette's Papers Part I of II
You are thrust into a dystopian society. What do you do? Do you submit to the regime or fight to the death?
Becky's Barmy Book Blog  Part II of II
Theme 6 photo Exiler-Excerpt_zpsef7dab17.jpgGood news! We’ll likely die before being forced to live in a dystopian society. Our only exposure will be through fiction. And thank goodness. Because realistically, none of us would have much of a chance of making it in a dystopia without meeting an early demise or becoming one of the brain-dead masses.

5 - Sab, The Book Eater - Part I of II
What a weird feeling. I started daynight over 3 years ago. I spent more than 6 months writing, and way more than 6 months doing edits and rewrites.
            - Mortality Bites - Part II of II
daynight explored the SCI’s iron grip on Thera and the Second Chancers. clean slate complex explores what the SCI is up to on Earth (nothing good).
       - Deco My Heart - Review
There are many sinister things about Thera that are slowly revealed and lots of twists and turns which makes for an interesting read.
             6 - Jack's Junk Drawer - Review
The opening prologue was hilarious. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard so soon when reading a book
                - The Reading Diaries - Review
The book is filled with twists and turns that kept me guessing till the last page I had a hard time putting it down.
               - Book Snob - Review
Daynight is a creative alternative world.  It contains a great love triangle and is entertaining and suspenseful.  I love being transported outside my realm of knowledge to new places that exist only between the pages of a book.  Thomason has created believable characters, sexual tension, fast moving plot and dangerous living conditions.
