Let's Talk BEA

I'm actually having an anxiety attack over this.  I live on Long Island which is close to NYC.  I could very well take the train into the city and sleep at home every night.  The problem is that, one, I've had 4 heart attacks since last May and I'm not sure if my doctor would approve of me going to such an event, and two, I would need to use a wheelchair.  Has any previous attendees seen people in wheelchairs there?  Are they allowed?  I know it gets super crowded.  I just really want to go to experience BEA and see for myself how wonderful it is.  Another problem is that I don't know who would go with me.  It's during the week and everyone works!

So, who has registered already and who is going to register?  I really want to know!  If you are going, what are you signing up for?

My Thoughts:

I really liked this book, but I just couldn't get into the setting or characters.  The Ward is supposed to take place in a future NYC.  I live an  hour away from NYC and I just couldn't place where this book takes place.  Things just weren't explained enough for me.  The mobiles they drive, how the mobiles get from building to building, what the buildings look like, even what the characters look like.  What I did love though, was the dedication Renata had for her "sister" Aven.  Ren risked her life over and over to make the best like she could for Aven.  I really liked Derek until about 3/4 of the way through.  I would really like to see a sequel, but with better world building and characterization.

My thoughts:

I read Splintered almost 2 months ago, and in that time, most of you have already read it.  So I think I'll just tell you my feelings about Splintered.

This book totally blew my mind.  As a debut author, A.G. Howard has a very bright future if she keeps this up. Splintered sucked me in and wouldn't let go.  It creeped me out but I kept going back for more.  The world building was phenomenal.  I felt like I was right there with the characters.  Speaking of the characters, I had a love/hate relationship with Alyssa and Morpheus.  But I adored Jeb.  Alyssa got on my nerves sometimes when she wouldn't open up about things.  I really hated Morpheus until the very, very end.  But his character was like none I've ever read about.  He was amazing.  The way everything worked out in the end gave me chills.  I completely recommend this book to everyone.  There are a couple of mature themes though.

A very deserving 4 stars!!

I would have given it 5 stars but Morpheus really pissed me off most of the time. lol

My thoughts:

I read this over a month ago and, stupid me, didn't take notes.  It wasn't very memorable for me.  I did like the way Tim left the CD's for Duncan to listen to.  The world building wasn't fantastic, but I got a good picture in my mind.  I wasn't fond of Vanessa at all.  Maybe because I was never that popular.  She just pissed me off that she wouldn't be around Tim when others were around.  And I thought Duncan was just a little too whiny for my taste.  I did feel bad for Time.  He knew he would never be popular or "get the girl" because he was albino.  It must suck living your life that way.

I need help finding a blog design!
